Why ADA sidewalk surveys matter
In the United States, sidewalk accessibility is a legal obligation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). When sidewalk quality falls below required thresholds, the Department of Justice (DOJ) can pursue complaints against municipalities — creating liability, costly remediation, and reputational risk.
